Driving down the streets of Kampala you are bound to hit Boda (picture above). They are careless, weaving in and out of traffic, and obeying no traffic laws (like we have much to begin here). So I knew a time would come when I would face the day of tak'n down a boda. That day came a little sooner than I thought. Just yesterday I was turning into a parking lot, with my indicator (blinker) on, going pretty slow when all of the sudden outta no where out pops a boda and on the wrong side of the road. I just tipped the bike (or did he run into me?) and another bites the dust. He walked away with a scrap on his arm, a broken rearview mirror, and a broken kickstand. The gaurd for the shopping plaza came over and agreed with me that it was his fault and he was careless driving on the wrong side of the road. So he told me to just give him 10,000 shillings and send him on his way.
Here in Africa you don't call the cops, the cops are not your friend. The system here is currupt. The boda driver wanted 20,000 shillings so we settled for 15,000 shillings which pans out to be like $7.50 US dollars and the whole matter was settled.
So now I am going to keep a tally of how many Boda's come in contact with my vehicle and you are more than welcome to join the BODA TALLY with me!!!
