I feel as though I have all these thought bubbles floating around in my head waiting for them to collide with one another to create these amazing revelations. Today one of those thought bubbles collided with another and I have had a revelation. Christian Hedonism is the sum of the revelation.
“God is most Glorified in us, when we are most Satisfied in HIM.” –John Piper
To wake up and in simple terms to become Happy in Him will make your day go by so much smoother. I wish I would have truly understood this concept years ago and it would have saved me oh so much heart ache. The desire to be wanted by your peers has been a daunting task that I have been trying to complete. It has only become a burden and I haven’t really been focusing on the correct things. But when I am most satisfied (or Happy) in Him all else fades but what matters. I am not looking for my sense of security in the eyes of others but am secure in the sight of God. Then when I come in contact with my peers I will be able to be a blessing to them instead of trying to be blessed by them.
“Seek first the Kingdom of God and all else will be added unto you.” Matt. 6:33
I (we all) tend to have a secular mindset. Secular mindset is the mindset that you are the center of the universe - man and his rights and needs and expectations.. That you do all things to please the idol of ME. Instead I need to have the Biblical mindset with the starting point of God at the center. When I begin to start serving Christ instead of myself (which is a daily battle) my perspective changes, I am so much more free, I guess that is why this verse makes so much sense…..”my burden is easy and my yoke light”. Satan likes to keep me trapped in the secular mindset holding up the idol of ME. But grasping on to this new Biblical mindset is so freeing. I feel as I write this more thought bubbles are colliding….
“Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:2
I have to renew my mindset daily. And this is the new mindset….
“And so the biblical mindset starts with the assumption that God is the center of reality. All thinking starts with the assumption that God has basic rights as the Creator of all things. He has goals that fit with his nature and perfect character. Then the biblical mindset moves out from this center and interprets the world, with God and his rights and goals as the measure of all things.” -John Piper
Oh that I might dwell here the rest of my days. That I may keep myself in this assumption and give up all my basic rights and goals and begin to measure things as God would.
