This was said to me this week…..and I am beginning to feel that way, but the smallest things make your day here. Having fresh flower in your room (they are cheap here) hearing your helper sing “You are worthy” while doing the dishes, getting a two sentence email of encouragement from a friend and so forth.
My new perfume is the scent of bug spray, you want to have it on every night, even in the house. I forgot to put it on one night and now I wake up itching like crazy….I know I will have some scars to remind me to put it on every night. Mosquitoes are the only bugs that I am currently battling. But in Zambia I have been warned that I will encounter some huge bugs, snakes, and what not. I leave for Zambia on Tuesday and will not return for a month. That means that I will not be able to send you an update for that long. But I will be journaling all that God is doing during that time and will share it with you as soon as I am able.
As far as ministry goes, I am not able to start any yet due to my traveling for the next two months, but I will begin my ministry in June and will inform you of all that entails as soon as I know. But I did meet a couple of pastors that I will be working with and they shared their testimonies, they was refreshing to hear. Then I was able to go to lunch with them at a local restaurant (when I say local I mean a literal whole in the wall with Ugandan food). Here is some church vocabulary for you: When a small group meet (usually for Bible Study) they call it Fellowship, When they meet for corporate worship they call it Celebration, and When we gather to eat they call it Swallowship. So when I went to eat with the pastors they called it Swallowship. Here are some prayer request of the pastors that I will be working with:
(When I say church I am talking about their Celebration meeting place, most of them meet in homes, outside, or rented rooms)
Pastor John needs material to finish covering the church building, please pray that God will provide that for them.
Pastor Thomas’ family has some sickness, please pray for their health. And his church is not protected from the weather so please be praying for him to get what he needs.
Pastor Vincent is in the process of buying land to build a church building, he has the money to buy land but I don’t know if he has money to start building.
I have some good days, some overwhelming days, some days when I don’t even want to pray, but I feel God’s presence everyday and I know that it is all those at home and abroad praying for me. My parents inform me of all your encouraging words and they are very uplifting, so thank you all for your prayers and words of encouragement. Please be praying for me as I am in Zambia, it is some extreme hands on training and I will need God’s Grace.
